UWA Sunken Gardens in Nedlands, had recovered somewhat from the hail storm that hit Perth on the 22 March, 2010 by the time Sam and Colleen walked down the aisle to their new married life. That had had a pretty tough time leading up to their wedding day on the 10 April. Sam’s much loved father had passed away 2 months prior and they were also one of those unfortunate folk who had been flooded out during the hail storm, and they were trying to mend their broken hearts while also madly trying to clean up after the flood and also having to make those last minute touches to their wedding day all at the same time.
And lucky for them, their wedding day was everything that that had ever wanted. Colleen, looked stunning, every bit, the magazine model bride, as she walked up to meet her lovely Sam, on the arm of her very proud Mum, who responded with, “when asked who brings this woman to be married to this man,…………………., as she should, she responded with, “I do”. Colleen’s friend Ben, a man used to public speaking and full of class, gave a Blessing, entitled, The Blessing of the Hands.
I have to say, Sam and Colleen took their vows beautifully, with meaning, full of heart and eloquently. And for what didn’t necessarily start out to be in the first place, at least, it was a beautiful, elegant and quite formal wedding. Outside of a church you probably would not see this that often.
